Otters delighted by magical Merlin donation

Rustington Otters Football Club is pleased to have received a very kind donation of £300 from Worthing firm ‘Merlin Buffet Systems’ which will be put towards kit and equipment used by our teams.

The business, run by one of the parents of our club’s Under 6 players, specialise in providing food presentation and dispensing equipment to the hospitality industry.

Such donations from local businesses like Merlin Buffet Systems are hugely important and contribute greatly to Otters being able to provide football for many of the area's youngsters.

Otters secure 3 year sponsorship deal

Rustington Otters Football Club is pleased to announce that it has secured a 3 year sponsorship deal with the local listings company HugoFox.com

The money will be used to purchase new kits and to
support the Club in providing much needed toilet
facilities at the Woodlands Ground, Angmering,
where most of the teams train on
a Saturday morning.

Christmas Quiz Night

Our Christmas Quiz Night was a great success on Saturday 10th December,
with 10 teams battling it out for the winners trophy.

After a tense, two-part quiz, broken up with a lovely fish and chip supper, the
overall winners were 'Nice Nuts' who represented the U8FC team.

We would like to say a huge THANKYOU to Ric and Sharon, the quizmasters,
to Micks Chips, in East Preston, who supplied us with 52 portions of fish
and chips to keep us all going and to everyone who took part in the quiz night to
help raise much needed funds for Rustington Otters FC.

Royal Mail Sports Foundation

Rustington Otters Football Club were very pleased to receive
an award recently from the Royal Mail Sports Foundation.

The money awarded to the Club will go towards buying new
equipment to be used by a number of teams.

Without the generous support of organisations like this, and the many local companies that sponsor our teams, the Club would not be able to operate.

Congratulations to Jon Klanczkowski

All those involved with Rustington Otters Football Club will know Jon Klanczkowski, and the important role he has within the Club. For those that don’t know Jon and what he does, amongst other things, he is the person that is always first to arrive at the ground and unlock everything for training and matches and the last to leave after locking up. Jon marshals the car park at Woodlands come rain or shine and has the difficult job of allocating fixtures each week to ensure that every team has a pitch to play on for their home games.

As well as all this Jon is a dedicated member of the Committee at the Club who will always put himself forward when something needs doing. For this reason, the Club put forward Jon’s name in the "Volunteer of the Year" category in the annual FA Community Awards earlier this year.

The Awards recognise the continued commitment to improving standards of community football and increasing participation across all aspects of grassroots football through Volunteers, Charter Standard Clubs and Leagues.

The Awards recognise and reward the hard work that goes on around the country week in, week out, to provide the best possible experience for those participating in grassroots football.

We are pleased to announce that Sussex County FA have recognised all Jon’s hard work and he has been declared the winner of The Sussex County FA Football Workforce Volunteer Award.

Everyone at the Club would like to congratulate Jon on winning this award and for all he does for Rustington Otters Football Club.

We almost had 6 teams reaching Cup Finals this season, but unfortunately the U13FC team were beaten by Middleton Diamonds 'A' at the semi-final stage of the U13 Challenge Cup and the U16FC team were beaten in the semi-final of the U16 Invitation Cup by Pagham Youth 'A'.

Weekend Car parking at Woodlands Park Sports Ground

Angmering School have kindly given permission for parents of Otters players to use the newly created parking spaces in the school grounds during training on Saturdays and on match days on Sundays. The parking areas we are to use are the ones numbered from 1 - 48 (Click here for a map)

Please DO NOT park in any other parts of the school ground as these areas are set aside for the astro-turf pitch and for other clubs that are beng held at the school.

If you can try to use these spaces rather than the Woodlands car park, that will free up space for visiting teams and hopefully reduce the car parking problems in Greenwood Drive.

Woodlands Ground Changing Room Now Demolished

In April 2010 our beloved club hut was demolished, leaving us with no changing rooms or toilet facilities at the Woodlands Sports Ground.

We are looking at the possibility of providing a replacement facility, but are currently awaiting news on a potential extension of the lease of the Woodlands Ground, and this may not be decided until late 2010.

In the meantime if any of you are able to provide help or guidance in any of the following areas please contact the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary or Fixtures Secretary whose details appear on the "Contacts" page.
- Funding
- Sponsorship
- Foundation work
- Building
- Temporary (or permanent) storage buildings

We appreciate this will be an inconvenience and a difficult time for us all, but we are determined that this will not spoil our enjoyment of 'the beautiful game'.
